Plan rides, time off, and help at home, plus a comfortable sleep setup with pillows to stay propped up.

DURING: On surgery day, the team confirms your plan and monitors you closely for safety.

Breast Implant Removal / Exchange may be done through a prior scar to limit new marks. The implant is removed, then the pocket and capsule are checked. If scar tissue is tight, it may be released, and some or all of the capsule may be removed when needed for your case. If you are exchanging, a new implant is placed and the pocket may be adjusted to improve position and balance. If you are removing only, the breast can be shaped and tightened, and a lift may be done if planned. Dressings and a support bra go on before you wake up.

AFTER: Expect soreness, swelling, and a tight feeling across the chest at first. Many people feel best resting upright and taking short walks often. You may have drains for a short time, depending on how much pocket work was done. Most people return to light tasks within days, but lifting, pushing, and chest workouts usually wait several weeks. Shape changes happen in stages: early swelling hides detail, then the breast softens and settles over time. Scar care often starts once incisions are closed and cleared, using steps like silicone and sun protection.
